Michael Murphy Obituary

Michael J. Murphy

Age 52, passed away surrounded by family and friends on October 1st, 2014 after a 13 month battle with cancer. He was born January 17th, 1962 in Seattle and grew up in Lake Forest Park. Our dad graduated from Shorecrest High School, then joined the workforce and spent 4 years in the active Army Reserve. He lived a hardworking and generous life and was an amazing friend. Dedicating the second half of his life to us kids, he was an incredible father and we will miss him greatly although we know he will always be with us. We love you dad. Predeceased by his father, James; mother, Jeannette; and sister, Linda; he is survived by his daughters, Erin and Megan.

Rest In Peace Mike
I will forever remember your smile, your kindness, how you always made me feel welcome. I have great memories of growing up in the same neighborhood with you and your folks! Playing basketball, going swimming at the neighbors pool or aqua club, walking around the neighborhood till late at night (until your dad would whistle and flicker the porch light to let us all know it was time to go home) you and your family made me feel so at home
"Go home Karen" your dad would always tell me and you would giggle and your mom would get so irrated with him and I would go home lol
Your mom taught me to crochet
God Bless

I too am very sorry for Mike's passing. Mrs. Murphy used to babysit my sister and me. Mike was always kind to us, even letting us play with his hot wheels. The four of us played group solitaire in the mornings and after school. Such fun. We also used to jump in the leaves in the backyard during the fall. And there were always a group of us neighborhood kids playing basketball in the driveway. Mike will be missed.

Oh, I am so very sorry to hear this. What a shame that we lost touch after high school. I had such a huge crush (dating myself using this term) on him and when he asked me to the senior prom it made my entire year. My sincerest sympathy to his family.

I will so miss you Mike! One of the few people in my life that new my nickname, could use it and know he wouldn't get yelled out for using it. Every December he would walk in to my work with my Bichon Calendar. You made me laugh! We had great times! RIP Mike you will be forever in my great memories of life.

My heart was broken when I heard this but I know that you are now with God and pain free. You were a good neighbor and friend. I will treasure the memories of bike riding, hanging out, supplying you with Sonics posters, etc. Your laugh and smile will stay with me forever. God be with your daughters. Until we meet again - Sally

Mike you were such a good sport when you attended Girl Scout meetings with all of us Mom's! We all shared some great laughs. You helped create two of the most beautiful inside and out, daughter, whom I adore. Rip Mike. Xoxo
