Richard (Dick) Lawrence Russell

Richard Russell of Edmonds, Washington passed away at home on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, with his family by his side.

Dick was born on February 20th 1928 in Seattle to Charles and Mabel Russell. Married in 1949 to Barbara Ann Webb.

He entered into an apprentice program in the glass trade, becoming a member of the Western Glazers Union until retiring in 1988.

He served in the Army from February 1946 to August 1947. Most of his Army career was on the island of Okinawa. Being a chauffeur for Col. Lowe. When they asked a group of young soldiers if anyone knew how to drive, he put his hand up and he was chosen, an experience he cherished for many years. After leaving the Army to come home to Seattle to finish his apprenticeship to become journeyman, where he worked in the glass trade until retiring in 1988 from Speedy Auto Glass. He took pride in himself for training glass shop owners in and around Seattle. He would say "Hey, I trained that guy". Dick was an avid outdoorsman, loved hunting, fishing, camping and just being out in the woods.

He is survived by his wife Lynda M. Russell of Edmonds, Sons Ronald Russell, Gregory Russell (Lorelie), Rick Russell all of Canyon Park. Step-son F. Roth Rose (Andrea) of Tacoma. And many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mabel Russell of Seattle, wife Barbara Ann Russell, Seattle. Brother Howard Russell, sisters Marge Lehmann, Frances Surveil and Betty Russell all from Seattle, and his beloved dog Charley.

There will be a Celebration of life at the family home in Edmonds on Sunday, May 7th at 1:00.

All are invited.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Edmonds Senior Center Capitol Campaign Fund or the charity of your choice.
