Robert Schultz Obituary
February 22, 1928-March 26, 2018
Dr. Robert Schultz was a Lutheran pastor and theologian. He was born in Faribault, Minnesota and educated at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis (Missouri). He studied Systematics and the History of Theology at Friedrich-Alexanders Universitt in Erlangen, Germany, graduating magna cum laude in 1956. He later pursued post-doctoral studies at Harvard Divinity School and studied Pastoral Care and Counseling at The Menninger Foundation (Kansas). He taught
at Valparaiso University (Indiana),
St. John's University (New York), and The Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary (South Carolina). From 1983 to 1992, he was affiliated faculty at the Northwest Theological Union in Seattle, Washington.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 6th, at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral in Seattle, Washington.

Bob gave me,a German intern, 1981 the chance, to do a one year CPT Internship in Kalamazoo,Mi. I spend 4 wonderful weeks together with Bob, Ruth, their family and Hermannsburg-interns in Columbia, SC.

Bob was a regular visitor at the Agape Lutheran Student Center during my years as pastor, 2000-2005. I valued his friendship and the lively conversations we shared. William Kratzke has reminded me that he and his wife, now Saint Ruth, attended one of our student concerts with Bob and you, Ruth, probably in about 2002. I am blessed that Bill shared the link to the Times obituaries, and I thank God for my association with Bob and for his amazing theological mind and engaging perspectives. I have the perception that his broad theological vision was more embracing than many could appreciate. He was a valued friend to me during those years of student ministry in the bustling U District.
