Ruby Jaffe Obituary

Ruby Carolyn JAFFE Of Seattle, died October 23rd 2002 peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born February 6, 1917 to Ester and Joseph Kanoff in Winnipeg, Canada. She attended Garfield High School and she completed her nursing training at Cabrini Hospital in Seattle. Shortly after, she married Sidney Z. Jaffe and together they founded Jafco Distributors, the 1st catalog showroom business in the Pacific Northwest. Ruby worked alongside of her husband for over 25 years and was instrumental in the success of the business. She had a vivacious personality and loved going to and giving great parties. Ruby was a wonderful mother, cook and a great dancer. She was a founding member of City of Hope and numerous organizations including Swedish Hospital Summit Club, Seattle Opera and a supportive member of Temple deHirsch Sinai. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Sidney in 1979 and her son Larry in 2000. She is survived by her sister Gertrude and brother-in-law Irving Jaffe, her daughter Susan Silberman and her husband Stanford, her son Paul and his wife Maria, her daughter-in-law Debra Jaffe; four grandchildren Lori Silberman, Jenifer Thornton and her husband Philip, Sydney Jaffe and Joshua Jaffe; two great grandchildren Zachary and Zane Thornton. Memorial Services will be held at Herzl Cemetery Chapel, 16500 Dayton Avenue North at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 25, 2002. Remembrances may be made to City of Hope or Temple deHirsch Sinai - Jaffe Room.
