10 years are gone without Bill, my very good old friend.
Here are pictures of Bill from where we live, Bruchsal, a town with a beautyful old castle in Barock style:

Dear Kathy, Elizabeth, and Heather, it is quite a time ago, but still Bill is in our mind every day.
Not only he was an excellent engineer and person. He also loved the place where we live: Bruchsal (Germany/Baden):

Dear Kathy, Elizabeth, and Heather,
I am thankful for having had the chance to know Bill for quite a good time.
He liked our hometown "Forst in Baden" with its wonderful Baroque castle. I have lost a wonderful, great friend and the global Building Automation community an international active diplomat - he never can be replaced, so it is a real loss to the world.
I also say, a very rare talent.
Please give my condolences to his parents.
Please stay in touch. It's been so nice to get to know you over the last few years.
All our best,
The Kranz Family, Forst/Baden, Germany

I just now learned of Bill's passing, or as I knew him sionnsar.

I have enjoyed many a debate with Bill on various subjects. Often times we were on the same page, but alas there were times we disagreed. However whether we agreed or disagreed, we both treated each other with due respect.

My heart hurts for his absence and He will be missed, but he is in a much better place today. Absent from the body, but present with the Lord, and in the Lords care is where he will be forever.

God speed sionnsar, and may the Lord bless and protect those of your family who grieve the loss of your physical presence.

OneVike,
Chuck Wolk

Bill was always a perceptive, sensitive, bright, insightful person to interact with on FreeRepublic.com

He was a delight to read and even to spar with.

May God bless all those he loved and who loved him with treasured memories and the comfort only God can provide.

"God of the present moment, God who in Jesus stills the storm and soothes the frantic heart bring you hope and courage as you wait in uncertainty. May God bring you hope that you will be equal to whatever lies ahead.May God bring you courage to endure what cannot be avoided.God's will is health and wholeness you are God and we need you." Unfortunately, I only knew Bill through his online contributions to a Web forum we participated in. However, for the the time that that I knew him he infused that website with a wit, humor, and intelligence that will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences to his wife and family. Hopefully they know that William was well-respected and beloved by those of us who never had the fortune to meet him in-person.

Dear Kathy, Elizabeth, and Heather,
I am honoured and thankful for having had the opportunity to know Bill.
I remember one time a few years ago when I was angry at someone and I wrote Bill about it. He calmed me right down, and made me realise the problem wasn't that important. :-)
He could always put the world in perspective, a very rare talent.
Please give my condolences to his parents. It's so hard to lose a child of any age.
Please stay in touch. It's been so nice to get to know you over the last few years.
All our best,

Kathy, I so wish Bill and I could have gotten together here on the East Coast or in Europe! Your husband was a good and noble man. Now he has been given "rest in a place of light, in a place of green pasture, in a place of refreshment, from where pain and sorrow and mourning are fled away."

Everlasting be your memory, O our brother, who are worthy of blessedness and eternal memory.

Gone too soon.

I only knew him slightly on Free Republic - from the contact I had with him it was apparent that he was a perfect gentleman and a devout Christian. He will be much missed.

Dear Kathy,
Although I never actually met William Swan (sionnsar), I had some nice conversations with him online about bagpipes and other Scottish things. He was a nice guy and will be missed. May the Lord God comfort you and your family and bring you through this as on wings of eagles. *hugs*

Kathy, I so enjoyed meeting and talking with you at our class reunion last summer. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this particularly difficult time. He was a fine man and Heaven will welcome him and his stories with open arms.

There is no easy way to process the loss of a loved one, whether it is gradual or totally unexpected. Bill Swan was a godly, talented man, and so full of life and love for his family and friends. The world is poorer for his absence, and Heaven is richer now that he has entered the Presence of his Savior. Bill's was a life well-lived: he leaves a precious legacy for all who knew him, and a challenge to invite Jesus into our lives, so we can also be assured of our eternal, final destination. We pray for God's special comfort and peace for all Bill's family as they mourn and commemorate a wonderful man.

I remember living next door to Bill and Kathy in the late 80's on 72nd Ave NE in Kenmore. Despite difficult circumstances in their lives at that time, my memory of him (and Kathy) was of their great strong Christian faith and of their love and commitment for one another. Bill always seemed to me to be a man of high moral principles, a character trait in short supply these days! His too-young passing is a loss to this world, which is in great need of more men of character like Bill. My sympathy and condolences to you, Kathy, and to the rest of his family. In Christ's love,

I remember his happy face & how he would always hang up the snowflakes & silly pictures that my sister & I would draw for him while he worked with my dad. He was always so friendly & a true man of God!
