Almeda Menefee Obituary

Almeda J. Menefee, 86, of Sedalia, died Sunday, October 5, 2025 at the Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Chapel, with Fr. Joe Corel and Fr. Tim Coday officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with Kyle Herrick, Karis Paull, Rick Morrison, Seth Middleton, Kevin Menefee, and Gary Weller serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 10:00 until 10:30 A.M. Saturday at the church.
Born January 17, 1939 in Sedalia, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Ilene Middleton. On January 27, 1961 she married Anthony J. "Tony" Menefee, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2021.
She is survived by her son, Steven Menefee of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; a daughter, Tina Menefee of Nags Head, North Carolina; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a brothers, Richard Middleton of Fort Mill, South Carolina and Lynn Middleton of Sedalia four sisters, Alice Morrison, Monica Paull, and Rowena Nickell, all of Sedalia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Daniel Menefee.
Mom (her preferred name) was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Sacred Heart Chapel. She was a 1957 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School. Early on she was a beautician but soon became a homemaker first in Sedalia then Lake of the Ozarks. She spent the golden years in Branson with her husband before moving back to Sedalia. She was a proud supporter of the Shrine of St. Patrick Church in Laurie, and Our Lady of the Lake Church in Branson, as well as the Sacred Heart Parish in Sedalia.
Friends and family never left mom's house hungry and quite the cook she was. It was always about her guest comfort and their needs. Mom mostly loved her time with family, she was the first to teach and guide them with games, crafts, and adventures. Mom always gave her time to help at the church, with scouts, and school activities. The outdoors was her favorite place to be whether in the yard with her plants and flowers or on a boat in the sunshine and always with a smile on her face.
The family suggest memorials in leu of flowers to either Sacred Heart Catholic School or Dementia Society of America in care of McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Sedalia.

I offer my condolences to the family. Alameda was a wonderful person and a great sister and friend to my mother. I will always remember all of the great times we had at the lake and the conversations outside of church when Tony would give us a hard time when the kansas city squalls weren't doing well. I know our parents are hanging out in heaven now like they did so often at the lake.
