Audrey M. Bigelow
SEDALIA — Audrey M. Bigelow, 83, of Sedalia, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. She was born on November 28, 1933, in Aurora, the daughter of Benjamin (B. B.) and Tressa (Leona) Lasswell.
On August 16, 1950, she was united in marriage to her childhood sweetheart, Johnnie Bigelow, both of Aurora. They shared 67 wonderful years of marriage.
Audrey was an active member of Parkway Free Will Baptist Church in Sedalia. She was also a housewife and mother of three who found time to have a successful Real Estate career which started in 1967 in Kansas City, Missouri, to the present as a Real Estate Broker. She was also a member and chaplain for D. A. R. She and her husband bought and operated the Aurora Skateland roller rink for 20 years to be used as a ministry to tell people about Jesus. The whole town knows them as "Uncle Johnnie and Aunt Audrey". She loved witnessing to everyone she came in contact with. Audrey was an altar worker at Billy Graham crusades, a Sunday school teacher, counselor at youth camp and a shoulder that many people cried on. She was a "Beacon of Light" giving hope to everyone she met.
Audrey also enjoyed traveling, collecting dolls and angels, doing crossword puzzles, playing Rook and other table games with her family, and also watching her favorite baseball team, the Royals! She loved looking out watching the deer, turkeys, and birds, especially her little hummingbirds.
In addition to her husband Johnnie, she is survived by: three children, John "Wesley" Bigelow and Glenda of Sedalia, Gary Bigelow and Shannon of Petaluma, California, and Linda Miley of Sedalia; ten grandchildren, Amy Adams, Johnathan, Michael, Daniel, Ryan, and Michelle Bigelow, Jeremy, Jason, and Joshua Miley, and Lisa Miley Morris; twenty-five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mildred "Imogene" Hillhouse of Aurora; and a brother, Donald Lasswell of Aurora.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin "B. B." and Tressa "Leona" Lasswell, eight brothers and sisters, Benjamin "Purl", Jesse "Richard", Isaac "Harold", Warren "Gilbert", Clarence "Eldon", Evert Earl "Bill", Thelma "Ilene" Lasswell, and Toy "Nadine" Daum; and two half-sisters, Edith Agnes and Iris Ayres.
A memorial celebration of Audrey's life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017, at Parkway Free Will Baptist Church in Sedalia, with a visitation to begin at 2:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Faith Full Gospel Church (17643 Lawrence 2220, Verona, MO 65769) near Aurora with a visitation to begin at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery, Aurora.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Miley, Jason Miley, Joshua Miley, Johnathan Bigelow, Michael Bigelow, Daniel Bigelow, Ryan Bigelow, and Richie Lasswell. Honorary pallbearers will be Braden Adams and Luke Morris.
Memorials contributions may be sent to Israel in care of the Fox Funeral Home, PO Box 37, Cole Camp, MO 65325, as Audrey had such a passion to give and help God's land and people.

I am sorry that we are so far away and therefore did not get to know each other that well. Also because of that distance not being able to attend her funeral. I remember Audrey and her husband, Johnny coming to Portales, NM to the my grandparent's cousins reunions. It was so good of them to do so. Unfortunately, a lot of that generation are gone now, including my grandparents, Harold and Toy Stockard, their boys, Sonny, Jimmie & Vern Stockard as well as my great Aunt & Uncle Olive and Vic Stockard, their kids, Joe Stockard & Marjorie Hine. Marjorie was the best at keeping in touch. I loved learning genealogy from her, however, I have not had the time that she took to delve into it and keep on top of it.
I know that Audrey will missed by all that loved her. We will miss out on knowing some wonderful family I am sure. God Bless You all and take care,

So bittersweet. Sweet for Audrey who is now enjoying life in the presence of Jesus. Bitter for the rest of us who will miss her presence with us. I first met Audrey through my parents. She would often join her brother, Bill, at the Golden Corral in Springfield, VA, where my parents also ate almost every day. There was a lot of joy at those gatherings and Audrey was always a ray of sunshine. Later, she and I realized we shared a special friendship; that we were comrades-in-Christ. I will never forget all her beautiful letters, her prayers over me, and her many words of encouragement. I will see her again. May God bless and comfort her family in this time of loss.

To my mother. ..I am lighting this eternal candle for you. It will never go out, just like the memories and the love we have for you will never go out. You instilled so much of you, your love, your kindness, your generosity, your Christian faith in us. You were the greatest mother and friend. You will live in our hearts, and you'll still be here with us. Jason and Carrie sent me a necklace that said, "You use to be her angel, and now she's yours"! You ARE my angel, and I pray you'll keep looking out after me! I love and miss you so much. But I know you're so happy being there with Jesus and seeing all the rest of the family. It's something you lived your life for, and now the Lord is there with you! I will see you again, I promise! Your daughter, Linda
