TOLEDO -- Robert E. Johnson, 97, of Toledo, passed away on September 2, 2024. He was born May 6, 1927 to George and Dorothy Johnson. He was married to Jane (Russell) Johnson for 66 years, who preceded him in death.
Robert graduated from Waite High School in 1945 and attended Bowling Green State University for one year. He proudly served in the United States Navy as a Corpsman. Robert worked for the New York Central railroad for 40 years.
Robert was preceded in death by his twin brother, Charles Johnson. They worked side by side on the railroad. Robert enjoyed his family as well as golf, tennis and bowling. He was also a strong supporter of BGSU football. Robert was a member of Zion Methodist Church.
Robert is survived by his two daughters, Connie (John) Sheridan and Karen (Bob) Grove, as well as 4 grandchildren (Kelly Sheridan, Robin Sheridan, Jamie (Dave) Hollinger, Jason (Catie) Grove) and 6 great-grandchildren (Darianna Sheridan, Larry Smith, Parker Hollinger, Quinn Hollinger, Anne Grove, Jack Grove).
Visitation will be at Coyle Funeral Home, 1770 S. Reynolds Rd. on Sunday, September 8 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral ceremony at 12:00 p.m. A celebration of life will follow. Burial will be at Toledo Memorial Park.
The family requests donations be given to Bridge Hospice of Findlay, 15100 Birchhaven Lane, Findlay, Ohio 45480.
