James Hardy Obituary

James Clark Hardy Jr., 92, of Shelbyville, formerly of Irvine, passed away Thursday, at the Crestview Nursing Home in Shelbyville after a long illness. He was a native of Estill County, a son of the late James C. and Mary Williams Bush Hardy. He was a U.S. Naval veteran during WWII, and an Army National Guard veteran. He was member of the Shawnee Lodge #830, and a former member of the Irvine Lodge #137, where he served as Grand Master in 1974. He was a retired carpenter. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Gordon Hardy. Survivors include his daughters, Susan (Noel) Martin and Brenda (Charles) Lee; brothers, Kenneth R. (Phyllis) Hardy and Karel W. (Shelby) Hardy; sister, Marion Bush Hardy; grandchildren, N. David Martin, Byron Thomas Martin, Melissa Martin (James) Shaw, Joseph Lee, Daniel (Tara) Lee, Julia Lee (Daniel) Huffaker, Kimberlee Hardy (Galen) Brooks; great-grandchildren, Madalyn Shaw, Kylee Shaw, Joseph Lee, Rowan Lee, Oliver Lee, Rebecca Huffaker, Caleb Huffaker; great-grandson Mason Lee. Services will be 12:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24 at the Lewis Funeral Home, with Masonic Rites. Burial will follow in the Sandhill Cemetery, with military honors. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Monday.
