Adan Perez Obituary

Adan (Adam) Perez

April 2, 1925 - December 28, 2019

Adan (Adam) Pérez passed away on Dec. 28, 2019, four days after attending the family Christmas gathering at his home with his wife (Jacoba), children and grandchildren. He was 94 when he passed away peacefully.

He was born on April 2, 1925, at Palito Blanco Ranch, Eva, Texas on a hot Texas day. He was the third of 10 children. During his lifetime he worked with his dad harvesting, cutting lumbering and delivering bricks for construction and picking cotton with his cousins until his dad pass away, a life changing event for him and the Perez family in Texas. In 1938 he began work with the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and in 1942 began his work as an Iron Worker until his retirement from the Iron Workers Union in 1987.

Adan devoted much of his life volunteering at All Souls church in SSF as a member YMI Council 32, and with the St. Vincent De Paul Society where he helped feed the homeless and needy familIes in his community. To quote Adan, "I remember when I got here and there was no one to help me, so I really wanted to help out in these organizations.

All the struggles Adan faced during his life growing up only made him stronger and through it all, he was still able to keep that bright smile and positive attitude he's always had.

Adan is predeceased by his son George (1996) and is survived by his wife Jacoba of 72 years and sons Félix (María-Elena) and their children José-Félix, Ana-María, Ester-Lorena and Rene (Roseann) and their children Rose and Michael and daughter Linda Perez de Rosario (Ruben) and their children Cristina and Marcus.

Adan is also survived by his two great grandchildren Felix-Cole and Sierra-Rosita and Adan's sister Elida Ramos (Roberto) and his many nieces and nephews in Kingsville, Texas, in addition to his many dear friends.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to George Ann Home in San Mateo for the love and care they gave to Adan in his final months.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to YMI council 32 SSF or St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Friends may visit on Fri., Jan. 3rd between 4-8 pm at Garden Chapel, 885 El Camino Real, So.SF where a Rosary will be said at 7pm. Mass of Resurrection will be held on Sat., Jan. 4th at 9am, All Souls Church, Corner of Walnut and Miller Ave., So.SF. Committal Holy Cross Cemetery.

One time when George was sick, I thought he was in trouble. I agonized at calling the Perez house at 3am I finally called Adan and told him he needed to check on George (downstairs) that I thought he was in distress. He told me George was asleep. I insisted he go downstairs and check anyway. Five minutes later he came back to the phone and told me George was fine and asleep, that I should be too
The next day I called Adan to apologize for waking him the night before, but I explained that I was sure George needed some help. He told me I called in love and that he loved me for that. He also added, I could call him anytime during the day, too!
I have thought of this story often and it always brings a smile to my face. Adan was a sweet man, a loving family man with a quick wit RIP my friend.

Perez Family,
May you find comfort in knowing that this strong believer in Christ will be with you when we are all called to His banquet on the last day. Until then may he sleep secure with peace.

Adan and his family made me feel like part of their family. He was a hard working and such a family man. They would take me on their family vacations, like I was part of their wonderful family. I think of them a lot, they really helped me though troubled times I had at home.
I remember that Adan and Jacinto, George came to my home , when I got married and build the most wonderful fence in my backyard. He did this out of the goodness of his hart. To Jacinto and Felix , Linda , Renee( and all the grandkids) My thoughts and prays are with you. Tim Konomos

I have been away from All Souls for quite a while, however, I was secretary at All Souls for 25 years. Both Msgr. Gallagher and Sister Anton spoke highly of Adan. He was a very happy person doing his work for St. Vincent de Paul for so many years. He devoted himself first for his family and second for those in need. He will be missed. Sadly, Dean Balestieri
