Addison Miller Obituary

Addison Seamus Miller
May 10, 2000 - June 30, 2023
Addison Seamus Miller died on June 30, 2023. Addy was born in Durham, NC on a bright sunny morning, May 10, 2000. He lived in Chapel Hill, NC, and Tallahassee, FL, but treasured life as a Sunset kid since 2008. He attended Holy Name School, St Thomas More, City College of SF, and UC Berkeley.
Addy was a committed force; whatever he put his mind to, he accomplished. He taught himself to ride a skateboard, play guitar and sing at the same time, and make an excellent beef stew. He loved the natural world. Because he had a passion for physics and math, he taught himself calculus at 14, then worked his way through physics textbooks. He worked in AKM Newaz's lab at SFSU, co-authoring a paper on nanomaterials at 16. He named our cats Dante and Beatrice because he loved The Divine Comedy. He was charming, funny, loyal, and stubborn; we loved him.
Addy joins his twin Jack, his best friend, his beloved grandmothers, Rosaleen Flynn, Mary Ann Miller, his grandfather Austin Flynn, cousin Catherine, in heaven. He is survived by his mother and father, Nora and J. Richard Miller; sister Ava; grandfather, John R. Miller; uncle Charlie (Rachel) Miller, uncle Brian Flynn; aunts, Mary Anne McGuire-Hickey, Monica McGuire, Megan (Devon) Langford, Theresa (Chris) Houghton, Nicole (Tim) Miller, Meghan (Casey) Freeman; cousins, Lily Ann, Ginny Freeman, Monika (Vernon), Kaeleen, Kyle McGuire, Cole Sazue, Summer Smartlowit, Noah, Anneka, and Felix Houghton, his godson.
We will feel Addison's loss for the rest of our lives.
Friends may visit after 1:00pm with a Funeral Mass at 2:00pm at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1555 39th Avenue, Saturday, July 15, 2023. Donations, if you wish, may be made in his name to Holy Name School or the UICC 2025 project.

I had shared some Chemistry notes with Addy when we met up following the service for his brother. We had a conversation about thermodynamics and sonic science for a few hours and it was wonderful, I'm going to miss him so much

And no one makes me close my eyes
So I throw the windows wide
And call to you across the sky"

I remember Addy in third grade and the wonderful stories he wrote. I am so sorry he past away too soon. May he and his brother be happy together in God's Kingdom. God bless and give you strength, Mrs. Miller. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
