Dr. Allen J. Gardner

Dr. Allen J. Gardner, age 94, passed away on October 13, 2016 surrounded by his family in Oakland, CA.

Dr. Gardner was born on April 13, 1922 in Oakland, CA to Philip and Jessie (Carlo) Gardner. Allen was predeceased by his wife Joan (Green) Gardner, married for 67 years. He is survived by two sons Michael (Holly) Gardner and Stephen Gardner, daughter-in-law Mary Warren, five grandchildren Aaron, Stephanie, Jeni (Daniel), Melissa and Max and three great-grandchildren Mathew, Zachary and Elizabeth.

Dr. Gardner was a talented Dentist and Maxillofacial Prosthodontist in Oakland on "Pill Hill" and at UCSF Medical Center, he retired in 1984. Dr. Gardner then began volunteering at the Piedmont Police Department in 1985 and retired at 94 in September of 2016.

Dr. & Mrs. Gardner traveled the world together, they loved to lead tours and host cocktail parties on cruise ships. Allen was a loving and kind man, whose greatest joy in life was his family. He will be missed by his family and friends.

A Funeral will be held at the Home of Eternity Cemetery (5000 Piedmont Avenue) at 2:00PM on Tuesday, October 18th.
