Amelia Moynihan Obituary

Amelia Bayley (Clow) Moynihan

Feb. 13, 1964 - Nov. 18, 2018

Bayley left this world on November 18th 2018 surrounded by her loving family, following a protracted illness. It was an unanticipated but gracious denouement from a life well lived.

Amelia Bayley Clow, was born February 13th 1964 at UCSF in San Francisco. She was known for her beautiful, vibrant smile, sense of humor, unique style and amazing hair, her love of math, talents as a cook and host, and as a fantastic rower. She possessed an encompassing love of family and a deep dedication to her career.

Bayley grew up in Ross, CA. She attended Ross School and The Branson School. She was accepted to UC Irvine and then UC Berkeley. After graduation she chose to work at Anchor Brewing Company, owned and presided over by Fritz Maytag. There she remained a faithful and beloved employee for 31 years.

In 1986 she met her future husband, Kenn Moynihan. They married 4 years later. Together they discovered a love of rowing on San Francisco Bay in the Anchor Steam whaleboat Renegade. She was an exceptional "stroke". The Whaleboat community became a de-facto extension of their family until the birth of her second child, when motherhood won over her "free" time.

Maintaining her career at Anchor, Bayley ensured her work hours stayed in balance with her desire to be a hands-on mom. You could always count on Bayley for homemade specialties. Her dramatic creativity shone most brightly in the meals and décor she hand crafted for holiday and family gatherings.

Bayley was generous in support of her husband and boys and their leadership roles in Scouting in Marin, and was the very proud mother of two Eagle Scouts. She enjoyed time at the family ranch in Pope Valley and jaunts to the Big Island of Hawaii along the Waikoloa coastline.

Bayley is survived by her devoted husband Kenneth Westly Moynihan and sons Dylan and Ryan, siblings Eric (Fong) Clow, children John and Jacqueline; Greg (Kathleen) Clow, children Reyna and Madeline; Guy Clow, children Chase and Easton; Louise Clow, children Logan and Quinn; David (Alessia) Beigel, children Emma and Sophie; brother-in-law Bryant Moynihan, children Eva and Pierre; sister-in-law Teal (Matt) Desmond and her stepmother, Abby Clow. Bayley was predeceased by her mother, Martha deMey Clow, her father, John Warner Clow, and her mother-in-law, Marian Moynihan and father-in-law Kenneth Robert Moynihan.

In lieu of flowers a special account has been established to support the further education of her sons. Donations can be arranged by contacting Kenn at [email protected]. Bayley also supported The Shurig Center for Brain Injury Recovery in Larkspur.

A Celebration and Remembrance of Bayley's life will be held this Sunday afternoon, December 30th at the Spinnaker Restaurant, 100 Spinnaker Drive, Sausalito, from 2pm-6pm.
