Anna Daskalakis Obituary

Anna G. Daskalakis Passed away peacefully on October 15, 2011 at the age of 99. She was born in Pyrgos, Crete, Greece on August 20, 1912 to Nicholas and Katerina Georgelas. She was one of six children and is survived by her youngest brother John Georgelas who resides in Pyrgos, Crete. Anna was a woman who always had a smile on her face and a kind word to give. She was married in Crete, Greece to George Daskalakis in the summer of 1937 and arrived in America in December of that year. She lived in San Francisco, California where she had three children and raised her family. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church and an active member in the Ariadne Chapter of the Pan Cretan Association. She lived her life dedicated to her family and Cretan friends. Anna was predeceased by her late husband, George Daskalakis and her daughter Chrysanthe Mota. Anna will forever be remembered by her son Christo (Olga) and daughter Catherine (Ted), her grandchildren Andy (Lavette), Cynthia (Tim), Stephanie (Mike), and Evangelia. Her great grandchildren Ashley, Zoie, Christopher, Sophia, Matthew and Zachary. She was lovingly cared for by her trusted caregiver Mele in the last few years of her life. We will miss her dearly and feel blessed to have had her in our lives. May her memory be eternal. Friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Sneider & Sullivan & O'Connell's Funeral Home, 977 So. El Camino Real in San Mateo. A Trisagion will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Church of the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 900 Alameda de las Pulgas in Belmont. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment at Greek Orthodox Cemetery in Colma. Donations in her memory can be made to the Church of the Holy Cross Icon Fund.
