A beloved figure known for his vibrant spirit in the Millbrae community, passed away on Thursday, March 28th, 2024 at the age of 91.
Born in San Francisco in 1933, Tony spent his life in the Bay Area where he owned and operated JC Express trucking company for many years before retiring. A veteran who served during the Korean War, Tony was the quarterback on the Army football team during his military days. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing, watching sports, and spending time with his community through the Millbrae Lions Club and the Peninsula Italian American Social Club where he volunteered tirelessly, and was always the life of the party.
Predeceased by his wife Nancy, Tony is survived by his son Joseph Robert Montes, daughters Sonya Wodopianov and Julee Marie Montes, as well as a large circle of close friends who were like family.
With his charismatic personality and ability to make anyone smile, Tony will be dearly missed. He created memories for all who knew him through his warmth, humor and zest for life that brought joy to every gathering and event.
Family and friends can visit on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, after 9:30 AM at the Chapel of the Highlands, located at 194 Millwood Drive, El Camino Real, Millbrae. A funeral Mass for Anthony Montes will follow at 11:00 AM at St. Dunstan Catholic Church in Millbrae. A reception will be announced after the Mass. Please bring flowers to the church service and photos to the reception to celebrate Anthony Montes' life.

I am sorry to hear of Tonys passing. I met Tony back around 1975 when a friend told me Tony was looking for a driver for one of his trucks. We hit it off very well and Tony helped me out tremendously, as I told him I wanted to start a trucking business of my own someday. When the day came for me to leave, that was the hardest employer I ever had to say good bye to. Thank you for being in my life for a short time. Prayers to your family. Godspeed!
