Antoinette Jamil Obituary

Antoinette Jamil
02/10/1943 - 04/23/2025
Antoinette (Toni) Leclair Jamil was born on February 10, 1943 aboard a US Navy ship stationed off the coast of French North Africa during World War II, a few months after Operation Torch in which the United States and Britain forces liberated the territory from Axis control. Her mother, Anna LaBonte Leclair (d. May 23, 1967) was born in Quebec and relocated to Maine as a child. She was a registered nurse in the US Navy and returned to Maine with baby Antoinette and married Richard Frederick Leclair of Maine (d. April 23, 1988).
Antoinette grew up in Rumford and in Lewiston, Maine alongside her younger brother Gregory Leclair. She had many fond memories of the beautiful four seasons and never quite lost her accent. As a teenager Antoinette and her family relocated to Hawthorne, California. She attended Mira Costa High School and graduated in the class of 1961.
After high school Antoinette moved to Los Angeles and met her husband Hussni Taqieddin aka Ali Jamil (d. March 7, 2025) who was a recent immigrant from Jordan. She was a lifelong Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed seeing him in concert on her honeymoon in Las Vegas. Antoinette and Ali built a life and family together in Glendale, California. In 1978, she gave birth to her son Moneer (Moe) Jamil. For about a decade, Antoinette also handled administrative work for their family small business Monte Carlo Limousine. She was a loving spouse, mother, frequent school volunteer, and a devout member of Incarnation Catholic Church, in Glendale. Antoinette lived with bi-polar schizoaffective disorder for decades and was thankful for all her family and her clinicians that helped her along the way.
In her later years, Antoinette relocated to the Bay Area to be closer to her son Moe where she lived at Lytton Gardens Senior Communities and Webster House in downtown Palo Alto. In 2011, Antoinette together with her son Moe, attended her 50th reunion for Mira Costa High School. She enjoyed spending time with family especially grandchildren and sharing meals together for birthdays, holidays and special occasions.
Antoinette is survived by her brother Gregory, her son Moe and her grandchildren Oliver and Kate. Her life is a story of courage and resilience to us all.
