Barbara Garcia Obituary

Barbara Louise Garcia

May 8, 1949 - Oct 17, 2018

On October 17, 2018 our beloved Barbara was called to heaven & passed away peacefully at her home in San Francisco. She was 69 years old.

Barbara was born on May 8th, 1949 in San Francisco. She attended St Joseph's Roman Catholic Orphan Asylum from 1953-1956, Norte Dame Catholic School from 1956-1964, and graduated from Mission High School in 1967. She married the love of her life, Ike, on December 23, 1967. In addition to being a devoted wife and loving mother, Barbara was a licensed Aesthetician, Beautician, and Business Administrator of Ike's Electric - a successful family business that she and her husband started together and still thrives 40 years later. Barbara's homemaking skills were exceptional. Her amazing cooking and nurturing ways truly made her house a home. She welcomed everyone warmly and all were considered family -especially while sitting at the kitchen table.

She loved listening to music and dancing, and enjoyed reading, making people laugh, and road trips to the casino. She will be most remembered for her razor sharp wit, her compassion for those she held dear, her kindness to strangers, and her sterling smile.

She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Ike, daughters Veronica & Annette, son Isaias, grandchildren Gino, Santino, and Isa, Son-in-law Dylan Hayes, daughter-in-law Liza Garcia, and countless godchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. She is predeceased by her father, Victor M. Mayo, and her Mother, Isabelle V. Mayo.

All of Barbara's loved ones are invited to a memorial mass on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 12pm, at St. James Church, 1086 Guerrero St., San Francisco.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Barbara's honor to The American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA.ORG).

Well I have like 10% of her wit. I swear she lived in the future and the present at the same time. Her loving personality and epic cooking will live on.

I love you mommy and I miss you so much. I am only comforted by knowing that you lived an amazingly beautiful life and left us such a loving legacy. I promise to take care of daddy and that I will work every single day to live by your example of love and grace.
