Beatrice T. Moore a resident of Oakmont for the last 14 years, passed away the evening of December 25, 2012 at the age of 104, just two months shy of her 105th birthday. She was born in New Zealand in 1908 to Dr. T. Fletcher Telford and Mary Edith Telford (nee Cooke). She attended St. Margaret's College (high school) in Christchurch and then earned her nursing degree with a specialty in midwifery at Christchurch Hospital.
She met her husband, Dr. Ferrall H. Moore, who was the ship's doctor on the Matson Line ship on which she was traveling. They were married in 1936 in Rochester, Minnesota, where Ferrall was a Fellow in Medicine at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Moore then went into private practice on the San Francisco peninsula, but joined the Navy right after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and was soon attached to the U.S. Marines in Guadalcanal. During that time, in addition to raising three young children, Bee took great pride in her Victory Garden growing many vegetables, which she shared with her neighbors. At War's end Ferrall joined the Redwood City Medical Clinic as its first internist.
Bee was active in and chaired the Altar Guild at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Redwood City. Upon retirement, Bee and Ferrall moved to Cloverdale, where Ferrall died in 1981. Three years later Bee joined her daughter Pam, who was overseas in the State Department Foreign Service. She lived with Pam in Indonesia, Austria, Malaysia, Pakistan, Serbia and Germany. They retired to Santa Rosa in 1998.
Bee was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother of seven. She was known by all as a charming, fun and lovely woman. A lover of classical music and Broadway musicals, she was an accomplished pianist. She was also a voracious reader, talented dressmaker and a noted cook-and her shortbread was legendary!
She leaves behind her children BeBe (Roger) Trinkner of Hillsborough, Michael (Patricia) Moore of Long Beach, and Pamela Moore of Santa Rosa.
Her grandchildren are Richard (Judy) Trinkner, Jennifer Trinkner (mother of Amanda Mickwee), Robin (Ron Guerra) Moore and Carey (Ian) Moncaster and other grandchildren Kyle Trinkner, Dylan Trinkner, Tessa Guerra, Walker Guerra, Maya Moncaster and Shea Moncaster. They will greatly miss her.
Bee's memorial service was held at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church, 9000 Sonoma Highway, Kenwood, CA on Friday, January 4, 2013. If you wish, donations may be made to St. Patrick's Episcopal Church or a
charity of your choice.
