Charles Ambus Obituary

Charles Ambus

Charles Ambus passed away peacefully in Burlingame, Ca. the morning of June 19, 2016 after spending an afternoon with his daughters, Antonia and Peggy Ambus. He was 99. He leaves behind two granddaughters, Alessandra and Elizabeth Daskalakis, whom he adored and was beloved by in return. Charles was born in 1916 in Themia, Crete, Greece. The oldest of seven siblings, he immigrated to San Francisco in 1952. He was married to the late Argyro Ambus for 47 years and together they were an active part of the city's Greek community. He is survived by his brothers Anthony Ambus and Petro Ambadiotakis, and his sister Kiriaki Trahalakis. He will be remembered by all for his warmth, intelligence, love for American westerns and the bright smile behind his characteristic moustache. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Annunciation Cathedral in his name. The Trisagion (wake) will be held Thurs., June 23 at 7:30pm at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Ave., Daly City. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 24 at 11am at Annunciation Cathedral, 245 Valencia St., San Francisco.
