Craig Bonner Obituary

Craig Bonzo Bonner

Craig Bonzo Bonner - Came into this world on January 7, 1960 and left it on December 31, 2016 - his and Mo's 30th wedding anniversary at home in El Cerrito. Craig grew up in Ventura, graduated from Ventura High School in 1978 and from UCSB's School of Creative writing in 1983. Although Bonzo spent many years working in tech, his great passions were music, Mo, and his dogs. He wrote most of his own songs, and could ad-lib on a dime. The bands he led include - The Boobs, Henchmen of Paradise, and the Bankrupt Sugar Daddies. He played in fine establishments such as, The Grass Shack in Isla Vista, Joeseppi's on State Street, Marin Brewery, the Ape Hanger Lounge on A Street, and many house parties. Bonzo had the uncanny ability to light up a room, was able to connect with anyone, and he never forgot a face. He had a heart of gold, and could be a royal pain in the ass.
He joins his mother Patti Perla, stepfather Joe Perla, dogs Amelia, Emma, and Maggie. He is survived by his wife Maureen Bonner (Mo); sisters Mary Katherine Lynch, Susan Bonner; brothers Bill and Bob Bonner; dog Marlena and too many friends to count.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Mitch Berger, Dr. Jennifer Clark, the nursing staff at UCSF, Dr. Jamie Rembert, and Dr. Eileen Consorti and her office for their care and support.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 12 at the Marin Rod and Gun Club, 2675 Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, San Rafael, CA 94901, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., there will be a special tribute at 3:00 p.m.

Looked up Craig because...you think about some people again, who make an impression. Just to add to the accolades...I was someone he dated, not at all seriously, in high school. Ha. I am sure I got a few more dates than I would have because Craig and my mother got along like a house on fire. She adored Craig! I loved how much they enjoyed each other. Thanks for those memories, Craig, and may God bless your family. Rest In Peace.

Just thought of Craig and how he made me laugh at work. (we worked together at Tribe Computer Works). Looked up his name and found that he had passed away. Said to hear this but he brought so much light to people - we are all thankful for knowing him. Mo, hope you are doing well.

I will always remember the good times at The Grass Shack. It was always an adventure going to work with The Boobs playing. I remember telling my friends, "You HAVE to hear and see this band, they're awesome and SO funny". Seeing was believing. No one was ever disappointed.

Craig was one of a kind. The best kind. He was so creative and funny and adorable. I love to play his music and reminisce about the good ole days at Pat's Grass Shack and Joeseppis. Those were some of the best days ever. I cherish every morsel of every memory from those days.

It is a good thing to be rich and a good thing to be strong, but it is a better thing to be loved by many friends. Euripides

Craig was very rich with friends.

We will miss you and that friendly (and sometimes mischievous) smile and laugh to infinity and beyond. God bless you my friend. Hope you are rocking out in heaven with all the other rock stars!

Craig,
Your boundless zest can't be quashed by the absence of your earthly being. Your antics and smile will live in perpetuity.

Nothing of fond memories of Craig, and wonderful memories of time spent with both Maureen and Craig. He was a special man - love and strength to you, Mo. He will always be with you I know. Claudia (Ross, Michael's ex-wife)
