I have very dear memories of Dan Stowell from the late 1950´s. "Danny," as he was then called, and I, were close friends and neighbors in San Mateo (Hillsdale Boulevard) during our grammar school years. He attended Laurel Grammar School while I went to Beresford Park. We often competed against each other in track and field sprint events at Hillsdale High School and also trained together for the AAU Junior Olympics held at Castlemont High School in Oakland. At that time we were on the San Mateo 4 x 100 relay team along with Roger Benz and Pete Carboni. I have many more wonderful memories of Dan from those years as well as when he later attended Hillsdale High School. I hope these humble yet sincere words will serve to remember a very fine and highly talented human being. Rest in peace dear Danny, we will meet again ...
