Doris, my condolences to you and the boys. Sorry we never met. I could tell you stories. Danny and I broke a lot of bread together in the old days. Danny, Marty, Craig Courtright, and I - among a menagerie of young bucks (then) played a lot of basketball at Portola gym and raised a little hell along the way. Losing Marty so young was difficult. This news may be even harder to absorb. Boy, did we laugh. That's what I'll remember most but it seems that the time has come to shed a tear and hoist a mug to a great guy. All my best. If your boys want to know about the legacies of their namesakes, I can assure you that there will be no shortage of volunteers to fill in the blanks,

I just heard about Danny's passing last night and I am so sad and find it so hard to believe. We have not had much contact since Gregg and I moved to Scottsdale but thoughts of the "spaghetti feeds" and "chili cook offs" have never been forgotten. It was a good time in all our lives. I am praying that God gives you the strength and love to get through this and please know that we are praying for him and his family. All our love..

He meant so much to me. We both started out in the bayview and honed our basketball skills at portola park. I had the honor to hang out with dan his brother marty and chico for some of the funniest nights of my life. Then he moved to Millbrae. We hooked up again in the fire dept. and had so many good years playing hoops again. Danny was a true leader and talked me into some of the best trips I have had in my life.I promise I will talk to Moreno and have a get together with the team in your honor. Armenta Family :
A firefighter saves a child from a burning building and the act is deemed heroic.
But when the child has been saved and the fire ex-tinguished, the fire-fighter's life continues as
any life does, with its share of accomplishments, wins, losses, sadness and joy, defeats and disappointments.
He deals with all eventualities as an ordinary man, in his own way.
His responses don't make headlines, but in the long run, how he responds defines who he is.
If he is a true hero, he works every day to live up to principles.
He believes not just in saving a child from a burning building but also in living by a code of right and wrong,
of treating others with respect and dignity, of living a kind life.
And if each day, the assets column of his life's ledger grows a little longer, then he is a real hero.
Danny was a real hero.
Heartfelt condolences,
Michael Fitzgerald

Danny was the original energizer bunny! I also remember Uncle Sol doing special order crossed axe sweatshirts for my twin grandsons when they were small. He didn't stock little guy stuff so he just said to get him the sweatshirts and he would get them done. A terrific loss for so many-the local and extended fire family as well as his immediate and extended family and friends.
As the saying goes Danny-"you dun good!"

The Armenta Family
My condolences to all of you, Danny was a great man.
I met Danny playing basketball with the Fire department team. After the first game it felt as if I had known Danny all my life. Danny was a tremendous person, he always taked to me about his family, Danny always went to church on Sunday's. He is probably the only one I knew who would look up a Catholic Church in New York and go on Sunday. Danny was a great competitior. He loved basketball and was extremely talented.
Danny was my friend, my teammate, my mentor and someone I looked up to. I will miss Danny's warm smile and laugh and his unwavering committment to his friends. Thank all of you for sharing Danny with all of us.

I feel blessed to have had such a friend as Danny and the privilege of knowing his loving family. He was a loving, caring person always willing to help. It seemed like yesterday when we were running down the court together on one of our many road trips. On the court he was not the tallest, nor the fastest, but he was the toughest because he always gave his all. That was the same way he lived his life by giving his all. I can honestly say some of my best memories in life were of playing and traveling with Danny and the guys. My heart goes out to Doris, Marty, Danny, Loretta, and the rest of his wonderful family. He will be missed, but never forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are for them in this time of sorrow and may God Bless them all.

Fondest memories of Danny will always include going over to the Armenta's house after school playing with Danny's toys especially the electric football game he had. I can't tell you who would win the game; the players would just vibrate around the field. We played little league together at Silver Terrace Park, he played third and I was the pitcher, after our games we would walk down to Sun Valley Dairy on Alemany to get an ice cream, they were our sponsor. I moved to the Excelsior after the 7th grade. At the time I thought I was moving a million miles away. I entered the fire department in 1974, met up again with Marty and Danny soon followed. The fire department was Danny's playground. He loved it and everyone loved him. Always full of energy, maybe it was the 10lbs of candy a day. I will miss his spaghetti feeds, partying at the Fireman's Olympics, his crossed axe clothing, and just his smile and addictive, positive personality. Your friendship I will truly miss. A hero is not measured by his accomplishments on a wall but by the size of his heart which no one can see. Danny, you are one of the biggest heroes I know. Heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Doris and the Armenta family. Danny is being caressed with God's hands. Phil and Terry

Marty Armenta was my classmate when we entered the SFFD. What a great guy Marty was and what a great loss when he passed away. We got a probe at Engine 41 named Danny Armenta, he was like a twin to his brother Marty, same happy, outgoing great guy. he opened up his crossed axed sweatshirt dealership at E41. He now became known as Uncle Sol. We all had great times together. Dan we all loved you and will miss your great spirit and great joy for life. We will miss you BROTHER! Rest in Peace.

After we lost Marty, my SFFD classmate and friend, Danny came into our lives. His laugh, smile and friendly demeanor, always reminded us of Marty. Danny was a great fireman and a loyal friend. I hope he is playing some hoops with his brother right now.....I miss them both.
