Daniel Robert Gray

Daniel Robert Gray passed away at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He touched many lives with his kindness, his zest for life and his infectious smile.
Daniel was born in Berkeley, CA and grew up in nearby Albany. He graduated from St. Mary's College High School and earned a BA degree in Political Science from the University of California in Berkeley in 1977. He was a member of the Kappa Delta Rho Fraternity, the Californians, and the Order of the Golden Bear. After college, Daniel worked in the non-profit sector with United Way of America and then as the Athletic Fund-Raising Director at St. Mary's College of California. He began his real estate career with Reynolds & Brown as the Senior Marketing Director and Partner where he was involved in the development and management of shopping centers, including the award-winning Marina Square. In 1995, he cofounded Gray & Reynolds Properties with his partner, Peter Reynolds which specialized in high quality retail, entertainment, and mixed-use real estate in the San Francisco Bay Area.
He enjoyed the great outdoors- especially hunting, fishing, boating and hiking. He loved traveling with his family and friends and enjoying the beauty of Lake Tahoe.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sarah, devoted sons, Adam Gray of Moraga and Kyle Gray of San Francisco and siblings Jeffrey Gray of Alameda, CA, Karen Llevano (Lee) of Walnut Creek, CA, Jennifer Gray of Pleasant Hill, CA and Laurie Gray of Portland, OR as well as many nieces and nephews.
His generous and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Friends and family are invited to attend his memorial mass at St. Mary's College of California, 1928 St. Mary's Road, Moraga, CA 94575 on October 28, 2024, at 11:00 in the Chapel. A reception will immediately follow the mass in the Soda Center on campus.
The family asks that any remembrances for Daniel be donated to UCSF to the Gastrointestinal Oncology Research Program. Online Donations:
