Daniel P. Hogan Jr. In Memory of our Phenomenal Father and Husband Resident of Lafayette April 23, 1928 - April 9, 2008 Our beloved father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, and devoted family man, passed away suddenly in Palm Desert, CA, Apr 9, 2008. Dan was born on April 23, 1928 in Portland, OR, to Agnes Albers Hogan and Daniel Patrick Hogan, Sr. He was active in the Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout in 1944. He graduated from Gonzaga University with a degree in economics in 1950. He had an illustrious 34-year career with Chevron, until his retirement in 1986 as Vice president and general manager of Chevron Chemical. Optimism, enthusiasm and a can-do attitude were qualities which Dan lived by and conducted his life. Whether he was supporting and motivating his eight children in their various activities, working for Chevron, serving as a member of the board for the Bear Valley Music Festival, as a board member of the Chemical Manufacturing Association, a board member of Central Garden and Pet, or as president of the Aqua Bears Swim Club, Dan was always able to achieve a harmonious balance in his life. His was truly a symphony of life. Throughout his life, Dan was always guided by his strong Catholic faith and he was a longtime parishioner and supporter of St. Perpetua Church in Lafayette, CA. He had a tremendous passion for learning and athletics, which he realized through his untiring support of his children and his long time association with Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, where he served on the Board of Regents and later as a trustee emeritus. Dan was preceded in death by his son, Ted Hogan on November 3, 1974; his wife Beverly of 43 years, on March 27, 1994; and subsequent wife, Sally Hyneman of 10 years. He is survived by wife, Holly Fitch Hogan. Dan leaves behind a larger than life legacy of leadership, devotion, unwavering commitment to family and friends, generosity, and kindness to others that is being carried on by his and Beverly's children and their spouses: Dan and Georgina Hogan III, Sue and Jeff de Boer, Liz and Keith Hogan Lucas, Karen and Tom Bard, Sean and Lynn Hogan, Sharon and Brian Geary, and Sarah and Duane Reathaford; and grandchildren: Lee, Jake, Kelsey, Emily, Lauren, Ted, Connor, Brooks, Ali, Shannon, Daniel, Brighid; and great-grandchild Kai. His departure leaves a big hole in our hearts and in our lives, but we can all take comfort in knowing that he is in good company. Friends and family are invited to join us in celebrating Dan's life at a Vigil on Wednesday evening April 16, 2008 at 7 PM, and a Funeral Service on April 17, 2008 at 11 AM. All services will be held at St. Perpetua Church, 3454 Hamlin Road, Lafayette, CA.
