Daniel B. O'Leary of South San Francisco passed away in San Francisco, CA on Tuesday, March 4th 2025 at Alma Via nursing home. Daniel was born in Ireland on March 25, 1938, to James and Kathleen O'Leary, his mother's maiden name was Creedon. He grew up in County Cork and later came to America and became a San Francisco firefighter, rising to the rank of captain. He also served in the US Army for two years. He was a very good athlete and excelled at Gaelic football, but besides sports he was a very good singer and devout Catholic and sang in the church choir for many years. He retired from the San Francisco Fire Department in 1995 after 29 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Anne O'Leary (Sullivan). They were married for 59 years and had 5 children: James, Daniel, Catherine, Brendan, and Patrick and 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Con O'Leary, and sister, Joan O'Leary. He was a great provider and loved his family very much. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and fellow firefighters who knew him and loved him.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 10:00am at All Souls Church, 315 Walnut Ave, South San Francisco.

I crossed paths with Dan many times in my 29 years with the SFFD. He was an old school fireman and I loved hearing his Irish accent. He was a good man.
