January 7, 1953 - November 25, 2018
It is with a profound sense of loss that we share the news that Dennis passed away peacefully on November 25th, 2018 at his home in San Carlos, surrounded by his loving family. He met the challenges brought by his illness with spirit, courage, and grace. Dennis was born in San Francisco on January 7, 1953 to Leonie and Elizabeth Ann DeVost. He grew up in the Richmond District and attended St. Monica School and Sacred Heart High School, graduating in 1971. He was a journeyman stagehand for IATSE Local 16, serving both the San Francisco Symphony and the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra for 26 years. He treasured his many friendships and travels with both orchestras and their crews and took great delight in being active outdoors. Dennis was predeceased by his parents, his parents-in-law, Dr. Eric and Mrs. Elaine Shooter, and by his stepfather, Leonard Lynch. He is survived by his loving wife Annette; daughters, Michelle (Aksel) and Stephanie; brothers Vance (Nadine), Mark (Patricia), and Duane; cousins Jackie Irene, Robert Yates (Janice), and Beverly Gerard (Marvin Dye); stepbrothers, Leonard Lynch, Jr. (Linda), Gerald Lynch, and Michael Lynch; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He will be endlessly missed by all those who loved him. A memorial service was held on November 30th at St. Monica Catholic Church. If you would like to make a donation in Dennis' memory, please consider The American Cancer Society, The San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra, Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory High School, or St. Monica School.

I'm sorry for your loss. May the memories of good times shared be a source of comfort during your time of grief. I attended grammar school with Dennis. He was a great kid. And I'm certain he was a wonderful husband and father. I remember him being a crossing guard and taking his position seriously.
With deepest sympathy, Arlene Malarky
