Dorothy Ann Koenig, age 85 of Berkeley, California died on May 28th, 2018, from complications of peripheral and coronary artery disease. Born and raised in San Francisco, she resided in the Bay Area for most of her life, excepting 9 years spent living and teaching in East Africa. Her early years were greatly influenced by her father's large Bay Area family of German ancestry and her mother and aunts who relocated from rural Kentucky to San Francisco. Love of language and appreciation for rural sensibilities remained cherished values throughout her lifetime. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Dorothy was essential in my research from many years ago into our mutual Dutch ancestry. I saved many of her many of her emails to me, and am eternally grateful for her help. To this day, I continue the work because of her. I only regret we did not meet in person.

Many years ago..I think over 20 years..Dorothy , Susan Shock and I got together for lunch and went over what we knew of our Terpening ancestors( Susans' and my husbands) hoping for a push in the direction that would help us find more information.
Dorothy was as gracious a lady as I've ever met, smart and funny also.
The Dutch Colonies list was the basis of our commonality and we had a great time talking genealogy.
Not only will the world we live in miss this beautiful, knowledgable flower...we all pray that she sits with HIM....Peace

Dorothy was at Lowell High School with me from 1948 to 1950. I graduated a year later.
Although we never met, it is always sad to see a classmate pass away. My heart goes out to the family for the loss.
God Bless You, Rick Bradley
