My father, Dr. Philip J. Bailey worked with Dr. Pinto while an anesthesiologist at Pacific Medical Center. Before my dad passed away in 1986 I remember him speaking so warmly and with great respect for Dr. Pinto.

God Bless.

I had the privilege of working with Dr. Pinto as a UCSF Chief Resident in 1984-1985. I learned a great deal from him, including a technique for abdominal closure in very high risk patients that I have used my entire career. Having passed this on to others, I recently received a note from one of my former fellows who has used this same technique with great satisfaction.

I am saddened to hear of Dr. Pinto's death. He was The best surgeon I ever had the fortune to work with in the operating room at CPMC. He was such a gentleman and the calmest person in any emergency.
He was always available to help other surgeons if needed.
What a great loss of a great man.
