Edward Carberry Obituary

Edward J. Carberry Of San Francisco passed away peacefully February 25, 2012 at age 88. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 16, 1923. Ed served his country in WWII in the Army's 247th Infantry Unit, Acorn Company. He worked for NY Telephone for 35 years and enjoyed his 30-year retirement to the fullest, moving to California in 1982 with his wife, Annabelle, and traveling the US, Europe and Canada. Ed is survived by his devoted wife, Annabelle and four loving daughters, Constance Downing, Susan Pelletier, Patricia Carberry-Harris and Barbara Carberry. He also leaves behind his sons in law, Lenny Gucciardi, Mark Pelletier and Chip Harris, as well as his grandchildren, Jenna Hasenkampf and Lucas Pelletier. Ed was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his daughters, Florence, and siblings, Leonard, Genevieve, Steven and Margaret. He was a devout Catholic, avid Forty-Niner and Giants fan, was an ace poker player (the Silver Fox!), and a champion bowler. A vigil will be held at St. Anne's Home, 300 Lake St., SF on Tuesday, February 28 between 7PM and 9PM, with a funeral mass to be celebrated at St. Anne's on Wednesday, February 29 at 11AM. Private committal at the Sacrament Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, CA. Condolences can be sent to the family at [email protected].
