Eileen DesMeules Obituary

Eileen Rose Des Meules
06/04/1941 - 01/08/2025
Eileen Rose (Corner) DesMeules, born in San Francisco on June 4, 1941 to Patricia Jackson (nee) and Howard Corner, and died in Alameda on January 8, 2025. Her father died at an early age, and Mom remarried Charles Ladd Reed. In the years that followed, Eileen welcomed six brothers and sisters: Charles Ladd Reed, Jr (aka Laddie, deceased), Jackson Reed, Judi Reed, Gordon Reed (Nancy), Sylvia Payne (Robert) and David Reed. Eileen was an extraordinary and loving sister, and lots of fun was had growing up on Madrid Street in the SF Excelsior District.
Eileen graduated from Balboa High School, and she always kept close ties to the school and her many friends. She loved working on the alumni reunions for the Fall '59 Class. She graduated from City College of San Francisco and San Francisco State University, majoring in Accounting. She worked for many years at Alcoa Aluminum/Burlingame, and Carmona Chemical/San Francisco. She was also proud of her volunteer work on the USS Hornet in Alameda as well as a long-time active member of the Young Ladies' Institute.
Eileen married Robert DesMeules in 1963, and together they traveled, entertained family and friends, and were lifelong fans of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. When they needed relaxation, they made sure to spend time at their home in Lakeport.
Eileen loved to travel - Europe, China, Australia, most of the United States and Canada (cruises and road trips); but above all she always considered San Francisco her home. She loved to collect Coca Cola memorabilia and was always on the lookout for that special item when she traveled.
She is survived by her husband, Bob, her brothers, sisters, many caring nieces, nephews, cousins and long-time friends.
Eileen's loving and affectionate presence will be felt at every family gathering, and she will be forever missed by family and friends.
Donations may be made in memory of Eileen to the USS Hornet:

I have many memories of Eileen´s twinkling eyes and contagious laughter at family gatherings and celebrations over the years. Whether we were in Novato, San Francisco, or Clear Lake she was always one to enjoy a good joke or to share a good story. I´ll never forget the exquisite crystal Teddy Bear that she sent when our daughter was born. We will miss these tender moments but forever remember the energy and mischief that followed Eileen into a room and the warmth and smiles that remained after she left.

Rest in love Eileen.

Sad to learn of Eileen´s passing. Ernie Aitken and I had so many fun times with Eileen and Bob including walnut gathering at their Clearlake home! We´d come home with yellow Chronicle newspaper bags filled with walnuts. I like to think I contributed to her Coca Cola collection bringing her cans from my work trips to foreign countries. Rest in peace, Eileen.

We were sad to hear about Eileen´s passing. Bob, we are so sorry for your loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Eileen is at peace now. Her suffering is over.

We will forever hold precious memories of time spent with her close to our hearts. She was kind, thoughtful, welcoming, dedicated, hardworking, strong and forthright. Eileen was the type of person who made this world a better place. We admired how she lived her best life her way.

The world has lost an amazing lady. We feel very privileged and honoured to have been able to call her our friend.
