Eileen Kyne Obituary

Eileen Patricia Kyne
03/21/1936 - 10/21/2025
Eileen Kyne (nee Durkin) Born to Patrick and Elizabeth Durkin in Sargura, Curry, County Sligo, Ireland, on March 21, 1936. She is survived by her husband, Jim Kyne, and their daughter Brenda. Eileen was preceded in death by her much-loved brother Jim (Pam) Durkin, most beloved sister Maura (Eddie) and Johnny (infant). She also leaves behind her most beloved sisters and best friends Kathleen (Daniel, dec.) Walsh; Mena (Dessie) Fitzsimons; and Monica (Frank dec.) Duffy. She will also be remembered as a loving sister-in-law to Noreen (Vince dec.) Kyne, Fr. Val Kyne, Gabe King and many adoring nieces, nephews, and godchildren across the United States and Ireland.
In 1956, Eileen immigrated to San Francisco. She spent the bulk of her career working at the Carpenters' Trust and forged many friendships that lasted throughout her life. She was a dedicated, loyal parishioner and was one of the first female Knights of Saint Cecilia self-proclaimed "Knighties." Eileen was a rabid 49er fan. Those who knew her appreciated her impeccable style. She was ahead of her time and could have been a professional shopper. Eileen was fiercely independent and served as a role model to her many nieces and young women in her life. She was a good friend and sister and will be missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
Friends may visit on Friday, October 24, 2025, at St. Cecilia Church, 2555 17th Avenue in San Francisco at 10:30 am. A Rosary will begin at 11:00 am and a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am. She will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery after Mass.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Anthony's Dining Room, 45 Jones Street S.F., CA 94102-3902.

So sorry to hear of Eileen´s passing. Eileen was so kind to me when I came to SF and joined the Irish community. I wasn´t "really"
Irish but Eileen, Maura Tunny and Julia Howard welcomed me anyway. Eileen´s kindness will never be forgotten.
Love and blessings to Brenda and family.

Eileen and I were colleagues at the Carpenter Funds for over twenty-five years. She was smart, hardworking, helpful and oh so stylish. Always above the fray, professional and someone who arrived at the office ready to work on behalf of the Union carpenters for whom we administered fringe benefits. My condolences to Eileen´s family and friends on the loss of a very wonderful person.
