Elizabeth Beecher Obituary

Elizabeth Channer, "Betsey", Beecher Died at the age of 62 in Woodside California on February 2, 2011 after a long illness. She died at the home of her good friend Judy Mullins and with her sister Judy DeWolfe as comfort and support. Betsey grew up in Greenwich Connecticut, graduated from Greenwich Country Day in 1964 and Mount Vernon Seminary in Washington DC in 1967. She attended Mt. Vernon Junior College and left there in 1968 to work in Washington and then in New York City. She subsequently moved to Clay Street in San Francisco where, in partnership with her longtime friend Beverley Byrd, she established Pacific Heights Household Services. Despite debilitating illness caused by severe back injuries, Betsey was irrepressible, irreverent, and beautiful, with a wicked sense of humor and a loving heart. She is survived by her sisters Judy DeWolfe of Lakeside Michigan and Sandy Beecher Ringo of Haverford Pa., nephews Scott Ward of Oakland Cal. and Evans Ward of London England. Betsey was a gentle free spirit who is missed terribly by all who knew her.
