Ellen Roseann Padon, aged 76 passed away peacefully on November 18, 2023
For 50 years she served as a floor and surgical nurse, impacting many with her hard work and dedication. Ellen was a generous person with her time and resources, known for her habit of over tipping. She was a devoted animal lover who welcomed and cared for them all, especially those most in need and those left behind. She was an excellent cook; French inspired and crafted exquisite meals complimented by her well known table settings of cloth napkins, silver, candles, and flowers. She loved See's Candy, gardening, flowers; loved traveling and was always put together. Her hair, nails and clothing were always stylish and on point.
Ellen was a tough woman and throughout her life continually rose to the challenges before her and succeeded every time. In her long illness she softened and became sweeter by letting down her guard, but always remained mindful of the situation and never complained to those assisting her. This in itself is admirable.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph A. Padon III, and her son, Robert Thurman Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Cory Thurman.
Private family memorial has taken place, and donations in her memory may be made to your local Humane Society or the SF Aids Foundation. Ellen was a devoted mother and friend to many and will surely be missed by all.
