December 8, 1921 - January 4, 2019
Eugene George Passama (Gene) 97, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019 in Stockton,CA. Gene was born on December 8, 1921 to Frank and MaryJane Passama, one of 10 siblings. Gene was preceded in death by the love of his life, Shirley Passama, with whom he celebrated 67 years of marriage. Gene was the proud and loving father of Gary Passama (Judy) of Fairfield, CA, Gregg Passama (Christina) of Danville, CA, John Passama (Hugh Walker) of Livermore, CA, Jeanne McMillen (Larry) of Lodi, CA, and Jay Passama (Denise) of Mountain House, CA. He was "Grandpa Gene" to twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. His sense of family, and the importance he placed on it, is a legacy that will be carried on by all of them. Following graduation from Mission High School in San Francisco he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served honorably during WW II. Upon his return from military service he became an apprentice plumber, joining SF Plumber's Union Local 38 and eventually becoming Foreman of the plumbing crew at Lucky Lager Brewery in San Francisco. Retiring in the mid 1980's, he and Shirley settled in Lodi, CA. where Gene "went to work" everyday in his garage workshop and he and Shirley concentrated on family activities and events. Gene always remained loyal to his roots and was a longtime fan of the 49ers. He was a quiet force in his family and never lost sight of his humble beginnings. Gene was truly one of the greats of the "greatest generation". Please join us for services honoring Gene on Friday, January 11 at 1 pm at Cherokee Memorial Funeral Home, 14165 N.
