Frances Rose Obituary

Frances Boyle Rose Sept. 30, 1911 - Feb. 28, 2011 Frannie was born in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Edmund Francis Boyle and Dove Lowrance Boyle. She was the adored sister of her younger brother, Eddie who joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was shot down over Germany in W.W. 2. She came to San Francisco with her family where she met and married Robert Lee Rose, who co-owned The Argonaut Book Store. In 1947 they bought their beloved Victorian house on Washington Street where they lived together until Robert died in 1973. Frannie lived there for another 27 years until she moved to Coventry Park in 2000. They had 2 children, Anthony F. Rose and Kathleen Rose Disston, and adored and adoring grandchildren, Karen Rose, Robert Stephen Rose, Jacob Leeds Disston and Alexander Rose Disston, and beloved great grandchildren, Giulio, Ruby, Axel, Farah, Jake and Isabelle. Frannie was co-founder with her very good friend, Nona Griffin, of the Town School Clothes Closet. She was a "candy striper" at Stanford Hospital San Francisco, now known as C.P.M.C, where she served for well into her 80's. She learned to play tennis at 70, had great flair and style, had many friends of all ages, loved fashion, Bridge, cooking, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was the proud owner of a 1966 international orange Ford Mustang. Her children and grandchildren are grateful for their inheritance. Her family is extremely thankful for the compassionate and loving care she received from all of the wonderful staff at Coventry Park, including Lottie, Josie, Gustavo and Jovita, and finally, from Pathways Hospice. At 99, she outlived all her old friends and as she in her inimitable way, liked to say "The cheese stands alone." At her request, there will be no memorial service. If you care to make a donation in her name, please contact The Christopher Reeve Foundation 636 Morris Turnpike, suite 3a, Short Hills, New Jersey 07078.

The hey day of the City during the '50s & '60s was the playground for Frannie and my mom Nona. I still have vivid memories of them enjoying life to the fullest and at 99 I'm sure Frannie was still a firecracker.
All the best to the Family.
Hugs, Cyrus
