Gary Constantine Obituary

Gary Constantine
October 26, 1954 - October 3, 2022
Gary James Constantine was born October 26, 1954 in San Francisco, CA to James and Betty Constantine. Gary was the eldest of three children. He died on October 3, 2022 in Stockton, CA surrounded by his family after unexpectedly suffering a cardiac arrest.
Gary loved being a San Francisco Police Officer, which he did for 34 years with pride. He never slowed down and never wanted to stop. Gary had the gift of gab and he would tell his police stories to whomever he was with, in stark detail. In retirement, he took plenty of time to exercise and looked forward to his standing lunch and coffee dates with his retired officer buddies. He was also active in volunteering through his church and helping the community when needed. He loved to quote old movies and listen to very old country music. He refused to come into the 21st century!
But most importantly, in the retirement years, he truly cherished being a Papou (grandpa). He basked in and laughed about his grandchildren's never-ending energy and personalities. He went to every event, small or big and he beamed with love and pride for them. They all had him wrapped around their fingers. He never said no to anything for them. He was very excited to meet his final grandchild coming in February and will now watch over them all from heaven. He was able to enjoy his entire 10 years of retirement being with his family and friends and doing things he loved.
His stories will be missed, his big laugh that could be heard from far away will be missed, and his openness to people from all walks of life will be missed. He was taken decades too soon.
Gary is survived by his two children, Mike (Natalie) and Lexie (Brian), 4 grandchildren Aubrey, Sidney, Bradley, and Samantha, his sister Lori (Dan), and his brother Neal. He has been reunited in heaven with his father and mother, whom he has missed for a long time.
Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass on Friday October 21, 2022 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church at 10 am. 1650 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek, CA 94598.

Oh man--so sorry just learning about this. My schedule didn't permit me to attend our 50th high school reunion this year--so bummed--because I know Gary was there. Great memories of Gary as a good friend--and fond memories of his mother as well. Our time in Moraga was truly the 'good old days.' My best to Lori and Neil, and his grandchildren.

Love you Lori, Neil and Gary.
Rich and I will always remember our times together especially singing along with Bob Wills and the Texas play boys. Rich says he will remember listening to Nancy Jane with you.
I, Cindy loved being in the back seat of his police car with sister Lori singing Kumbaya my lord in San Francisco. Thank you Gary for making our lives better every time we saw you.
Also thank you for mentoring my son Robert Futak . He loved you and will never forget you!!!
Love you friend forever

One of the best officers in SF history. You will be missed by everyone. It was a pleasure knowing and working with you. You served our City so well. There would be a lot less retail theft if you were still on duty. It has never been the same without you. You will be in my prayers and of the women and men you worked with for decades. We are all very sad. You did a lot of good. You were a great listener and were very attentive to your work when on duty. Sleep with the angels and look out for peace and blessings for San Francisco for now.
