George De Jong Obituary

George De Jong

September 22, 1943 - July 21, 2018

George De Jong passed away peacefully on July 21, 2018. George arrived in San Francisco from Hoofddorp, Holland in 1964, with $80 in his pocket, and proceeded to make a good life for himself and his family. He worked for many years at the Schlage Lock Company in San Francisco, and was a long-time resident of the Sunset District. George enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, cooking for his family, and summer vacations at Echo Lake in the Sierra. He was known to his friends and family as a man of dry wit and honesty. George is survived by wife Mary Liz, children Monique Webster (William) and Adrian De Jong (Rachel Goldstein), and grandchildren Peter, Audrey, and Nadya. Interment will be private with a celebration of life later this year; please email [email protected] if you would like to join us.
