Gregory Garcia Obituary

Gregory Joseph Garcia
March 31, 1951 - May 21, 2023
Greg Garcia - beloved husband, father, Papa, godfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend - died peacefully at home with his family at his side. He was 72 years old.
Born to Alfred and Adeline Garcia in San Francisco, Greg attended St Monica's Elementary and graduated from Saint Ignatius High School on Stanyan Street. It was while he was at SI that he met Lucy Robinson and they were together thereafter. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Communication from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Greg was a proud fourth generation San Franciscan and lived all his life in The City.
Greg built a successful commercial printing company, On Paper, Inc. from the small business he bought from his parents. He printed beautiful and complex projects and brought his keen artistic eye and personal aesthetic to all the work he printed on his presses. Over more than four decades, he enjoyed long lasting relationships with his clients, large and small. He offered his time and talent to many organizations through his teaching and mentoring work.
Greg really enjoyed his building projects in the second half of his life. Evidence of his artistry is everywhere to be seen in the Noe Valley home he came to call The Shire. He treasured Tahoe time with his family every summer for 43 years, a tradition that will be continued.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife and partner of 52 years, Lucy, and their two children: Jessica and Don (Monique). He was greatly blessed with four amazingly beautiful grandchildren: Kaia, Mari, Luca and Evo. Greg is also survived by his Robinson family brothers and sisters: Anne, Mary, Peter, Rosemary, Lea, Joe and David and was predeceased by Judee, Tony and Raj. He also had one brother, Durand. Greg left behind many nieces and nephews, grand nephews and nieces, and godchildren. He loved and influenced the many young people in his life with his gentle nature and nonjudgmental listening.
What a gift Greg was to the world. His great love will live on in us and we are forever grateful to have known him!
A Celebration of Greg's Life is planned for Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 3 PM at Casa Clipper. There will be Greg's favorite food and beverages and opportunity to share our memories.

Lucy,
I was out visiting Jerry in Omaha and he shared that Greg has passed away. I am so sorry for your loss. It seems like yesterday we were in Scotland for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary.
Thinking of you all and wishing you well.

I will always remember Greg´s kindness and the times that he helped me in my do-it-myself projects. As you surely must, I wish I had had more time to spend with him.

To Lucy and family. I want to extend my deepest sympathy and prayers to the family in the loss of your loved one. God Be With You.
I remember one year (don't remember what year) LaRaye and I traveled with Aunt Mildred and Uncle Eddie to California to visit Aunt Adeline. While there Greg and Lucy hosted a gathering at their home and also took us out to dinner to a restaurant overlooking the ocean. We were able to watch their son surfing.

All my sadness remembering as Greg, his wife, Jessica and Don were so generous and cute when I travelled to visit San Francisco from Bordeaux. He is gone too soon. Good bye Greg, rest in peace. Specials kisses to Jessica and Don.

o I remember the time when Greg and Randy visited our farm with their parents and they really enjoyed riding our horse. My condolences to the Garcia family. The sorrow of the loss speaks to the deep love shared. Nothing can ever take that away.

My sympathy to Greg's family. I am the daughter of John Kocmich (Adeline's brother). I remember playing\entertaining Greg and Randy whenever their mom would come to Dante to visit her mom. We had such fun showing these "city kids" around the farm.
