Gregory Kerwin Obituary

Gregory J. Kerwin Sept. 29, 1944 - Nov. 17, 2006 "The best and most beautiful things cannot be seen or touched - they must be felt with the heart" - Helen Keller Gregory passed away at home from Melanoma surrounded by his loving family and close friends. He is survived by his wife Kathy; his sons, Justin (Christina) and Jeremy; brother-in-law, Richard (wife, Barbara); sister-in-law, Alice (Lester). Uncle to Stephanie, Jim, Julie, Kyle, Carina, Jeff, Victoria, Mike, Melissa, Richie, Joey and Abby; numerous cousins and dear friends. Gregory was born in Passaic, New Jersey. He moved to the Bay Area in 1958 with his family due to his father's job transfer with the San Francisco Giants. He remained a loyal fan to his Boston Red Sox for life and was thrilled when they won the World Series. He started working with his Dad at age 14 at the "park." While in college he worked at Stanford football games. He loved college football and loved going to see his University of Notre Dame games. He graduated San Francisco City College and San Jose State University. He owned an antique business for over 20 years and was a certified appraiser. With his business he traveled the States searching for his country furniture. In recent years he visited the Southwest often and collected pottery and Art. He worked for Coca Cola Bottling Co. and also for the SF Giants (Harry M. Stevens). "Greg" as he was known by family, friends and coworkers, was a great guy and someone you could always count on to be there for you. He was genuine, with a great wit and spontaneity about life. His passions include traveling especially to Hawaii with his family, all sports, preparing gourmet meals, watching old movies and spending time with his family and taking hikes with Max and Morgan his beloved terriers. He will be long remembered and sorely missed by us all. Memorial Service will be Sat, December 9 at the Church of the Nativity, Oak Grove Avenue in Menlo Park at 11 am. Dearest Kathy: Many years ago we lived next door to you and Greg in Serramonte and learned what wonderful people neighbors could be. Now we have lost a part of our past and I am saddened beyond words. I long for all our yesterdays and weep for your days ahead without Greg.
Please write when you can.
