Gregory Nelson Obituary

Gregory A. Nelson

Sept. 24, 1963 - Sept. 10, 2014

Greg was born in San Francisco in 1963. He grew up in the East Bay but was always a passionate 49ers and Giants fan.
At Sonoma State University, he played Football before graduating with a Business Degree. After college he returned to the City, where he worked a series of jobs: Auto Sales, Coffee Marketing, Safeway Clerk, Charter Limousine Leasing etc. Greg had a near supernatural capacity for sports information and statistics. He found his true calling with the Sports Department of the Oakland Tribune. For several years he lived his dream, working there until his newspaper department section was closed.
Greg was a proud Uncle to his Niece Mariah and Nephews Robbie and Joseph.
He is survived by his Mother Patricia and Stepfather Laurence Nelson. Brothers: Christopher and Brian. Sisters: Alexandra and Meredith (Morales) and Brother in Law Ed Morales.
Every one who knew him loved him.
A good friend to all.

A Memorial Service will be held at Saint Brendan's Church 29 Rockaway, San Francisco, at 11AM Wednesday October 15th.
