Guido Surian Obituary

Guido Surian
October 4, 1929 - December 5, 2023
A native San Franciscan, Guido passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024 in Leesburg, VA with his family around him. The only son of Guido & Theresa Surian, he worked for the Public Works department of the City & County of San Francisco for 24 years before going on to work with Kaiser Permanente. He and his loving wife Lysla raised their four children in the Sunset District, moved to Walnut Creek for a few years before heading back and living in the Mission District until the passing of Lysla and deteriorating health required him to move closer to family in Virginia. He had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his son Guy Surian (Barbara), daughters Kate Hill (Tony) and Lis Cole (Dave), 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He is pre-deceased by his wife, Lysla and son, Russell Surian.
Family and friends are invited to the graveside ceremony that will be held on January 24, 2024 at 3:00pm at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memories and food will be shared immediately following at the Basque Cultural Center located at 599 Railroad Avenue, South San Francisco, CA 94080.

We knew Guido for many years as a HAM radio operator with San Francisco Auxiliary Communications Service. He was very instrumental with setting up the radio room and helping at battalion stations with technical help and radio operations. He was a good man and always with a smile on his face. KE6IUU is now a silent key. May his memory be eternal. Bob & Cathy Peterson
