H. East Obituary

H. Neal East Jr.
09/23/1930 - 12/12/2025
H. Neal East Jr. passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025. He is survived by his family: daughters Rochelle and Yvonne (Lee) Jensen, and son Neal (Kristine); granddaughters Alexandra (Troy) Jones, and Victoria (Ross) Grami; grandsons Ryan and Andrew East; step-grandson Matthew (Maira) Holzmann; and great-grandsons Cash, Indiana, Montaque, and Rohan; and step-grand-daughter Sequoia. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marie.
Neal was born in Seattle, Washington, on September 23, 1930, the son of Neal and Truly East. Neal grew up in Orinda and San Francisco, served in the U.S. Army and Marine Corps during the Korean War, and studied business at Menlo College and UCLA. In 1954, Neal married Marie and joined IBM as a marketing representative. His career took him and his family to France, Japan, Washington, D.C., and finally back to San Francisco. He retired from IBM after 38 years. Deciding that he was still too young to fully retire, Neal worked at the Marin YMCA as a fitness trainer, rock-climbing instructor, and facilities director until his final retirement in 2012.
Neal will be remembered for his energy, dedication, and commitment to his family, neighbors, and community. His family is grateful to the wonderful caregivers who assisted Neal in his final years. He was the pillar of his family and will be profoundly missed.
