Hans T.Y. Tjian

TJIAN, Hans T.Y. - In loving memory Aug. 5, 2005, at peace from cancer, age 65. Survived by his wife of 21 years and best friend, Sharon; Nicolas, son, age 20, a student at USC; and Hilary, daughter, age 15, in high school at Head Royce School; and his brother, Robert Tjian, professor at UC Berkeley; and seven loving sisters. Born in China; raised in Buenos Aires and in Rio de Janeiro; he received his Ph.D. at UC Berkeley. Hans worked in International & Operations for over 20 years at Wells Fargo Bank, and Systems & Operations for 15 years at West America Bank. He also recognized the importance and complexity of health care issues and served as a member of the Board of Directors of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals. Described as ethical, responsible, and kind. A devoted husband and Dad. He will be missed. He passionately supported "education" and training programs as the road to independence, self-confidence and a meaningful life for men and women. Hans served as a trustee at Head Royce School for nine years, where both of his children attended K-12. He was instrumental in establishing the school endowment.
