Dear Sharon,Nicolas and Hilary,

I'm very saddened to hear the passing of Hans. It was an honor to have worked for and with him. He definitely was a gentleman of great dignity, humility, and compassion for others. I never saw him act above others and he treated people with great respect and kindness. I know his legacy of the great man that he was will be carried on through his wife, Sharon, and his children, Nicholas, and Hilary. Thank you Hans.

I'm a friend of Pepe and Vera Mandado, who just informed me of the sad news of Hans' passing. I knew Hans through Pepe and Vera back in the late 1970s when I lived in Berkeley -- and I will always remember his zest for life, his energy and his great kindness. My deepest condolences to all the family on the loss of your husband/father/brother/wonderful man.

I'm one of many Westamericans (or former Westamericans) who had the honor to work with Hans over the years. He was a remarkable person, very honest, highly intelligent, and pragmatic. I have a great deal of respect for Hans. He was highly principled and a great leader. My sincere sympathy to you.
