Harold died on March 20, 2017 in his home in San Francisco, California. He was a leader in the struggle for peace, freedom, and justice, via the civil rights movement and over 20 years with organized labor. Harold was an extensive traveler of the world, in appreciation of other cultures and as a delegate for international labor union networks. He was also an accomplished athlete who played in the 1959 NCAA final 8 with Boston University's basketball team and surprised many tennis competitors who underestimated him. He is survived by wife Ann Pezaro-Supriano, son Greg Supriano, and grand-daughter Zahra Supriano. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 25 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Unity Church of San Francisco, 2222 Bush St., San Francisco, CA.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I worked with Harold in the Model Cities program in the Mission District in the early 1970s. He was a great friend with a great sense of humor and strong progressive principles. I am sorry I didn't stay in touch with him and Ann after that. I moved to the East Coast. I just now decided to try to look him up. My best to Ann. I have websites -- Midwest Independent Research

His Canadian cousins will miss conversing with Harold at our Howard/Holland family reunions. We honour him and his many "Civil Rights" accomplishments. He continued with the family tradition to often get into "good trouble" and his work and his life will be remembered and treasured in the museum section of our old AME church here in Hamilton, Ontario.

I first met Harold, along with Ann, in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where we all used to spend summers, about 10 years ago. It turned out that we had mutual acquaintances in San Francisco. I couldn't have met a nicer man. And modest? Someone other than Harold had to tell me that he had played in the NCAA basketball tournament against future Hall of Famer Jerry West, back in the day. He must have been some player, and, I imagine, quite skilled and fast, because he was not a tall man. A tennis player, like myself, by the time i met him he had hurt his hip (i think) and was no longer playing tennis, and when i tried to lure him onto the court he said that Ann, who was sitting nearby wouldn't sign a permission slip, lest he seriously hurt himself, so he contented himself by faithfully going to see the US Open tennis tournament in New York every year.
I missed not seeing Harold and Ann in San Miguel the last few years, as did others who have met them and enjoyed their company. My condolences to Ann and the Supriano family.
RIP, Harold.
