Harriet Hudson Obituary

Harriet Ladene Hudson In Loving Memory June 12, 1913 - Dec. 13, 2009 Long time East Bay resident Ladene Hudson died quietly in her Rossmoor, Walnut Creek home after a brief illness. Ladene was 96.5 years young and lived a rich and fulfilling life. She was born in Oakland, attended schools in the East Bay, and graduated from UC Berkeley where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. While at Cal she met and later married fellow student Miles "Doc" Hudson, who became a Berkeley dentist and long time Cal Rugby coach. After they married in 1937, they lived in Oakland and Orinda before settling in Lafayette. Her passions were traveling the world (until age 95), entertaining, gardening, the Christian Science Church, and being surrounded by family. Through the years she was very involved with UC, Cal Rugby, sorority activities, and organizations within the Lafayette-Orinda community. Ladene was truly a remarkable woman and role model whose kind spirit and gracious manner will be missed. She was preceded in death by her husband Doc and is survived by her children Miles Robert and Douglas, both of Orinda, Ronald of South Carolina, Shelley of Fairfield, their spouses, 6 grandchildren, and a great grandchild. Ladene will be inurned with her husband Doc at Mt. View Cemetery, Oakland. The date of a family service is pending. Memorial donations may be made to Cal Rugby or a charity of one's choice.
