Harvey Davis Obituary

Dr. Harvey "Skip" Davis
May 3, 1954 - October 7, 2022
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our husband and brother Dr. Harvey C. Davis Jr. He was lovingly called "Skip" by everyone who knew and loved him. Skip passed on October 7, 2022 in San Francisco California. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage and fortitude in facing life's challenges. Despite the pain, Skip stayed strong until the end.
Skip was born in Wilmington Delaware, the first born son of Harvey Sr. and Geraldine Davis. Skip graduated from Vanden High School, Travis AFB, California. He went on to attend Solano Community College where he received an R.N. degree. Skip also earned a Bachelors of Science degree in nursing from St Mary's College, a Masters of Nursing degree from Samuel Merritt University and a Doctorate of Nursing from the university of California San Francisco. Skip specialized in the fields of psychiatric nursing and addiction recovery. He shared his wealth of knowledge and experience with many Bay Area nursing programs.
Skip's passion for nursing was inspired by the deep love he had for his brother Gregory who was born with cerebral palsy, and preceded him in death. Skip is also preceded in death by his father Harvey Davis Sr, and his mother Geraldine Davis. Skip is survived by his wife of 31 years Roberta Davis, brother Dr. Everett Davis, sisters Gail Davis and Terry Davis-Carlton, niece Stacy Patricia Carlton, and a host of cousins and other family members
Please continue to pray for his family as they mourn the loss of their beloved husband, brother, uncle and friend. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.

I was so sad to hear that Dr. Davis passed away. He was the go-to professor at SFSU-Sequoia cohort 4. I have fond memories of Dr. Davis. He was a great Psych nursing professor. He also made himself available for office hours; he shared about himself, showed me pics when he graduated from nursing school in white uniform; how he changed his diet etc. In class, he went above and beyond other professors; he showed students his portfolio and all things he filed in order to present ourselves as professionals. He worked with transparency and was not ashamed to share the mistakes he made and how he learned from those lessons to better himself. And he also officiated the commencement and hand me my RN diploma. I did see his passion in teaching and helping others. You will be missed, Dr. Davis! May you rest in peace and may God continue to care for your family.
