Hazel Amanda Brickert

Hazel Amanda Brickert Passed away in the arms of her niece at home on Sept. 27, after a brief illness. Hazel Amanda Brickert was born in Portland, Oregon on July 2, 1923, raised in the Hood River Valley, and graduated Oregon State University in Business and Industry. Lived and worked in LA before relocating to San Francisco to work at Mohawk Oil Co. She soon met the love of her life, Lawrence G. Brickert, married and settled in Mill Valley. Hazel loved sewing, gardening and painting. A gourmet cook, she and Larry enjoyed entertaining at home and attending theater and opera performances in SF. In 1995 Hazel moved to the peninsula and became an active volunteer at the travel desk of Little House Recreation Center in Menlo Park. There she helped plan and lead adventures for the group until June of this year. A beautiful and fit woman throughout her life, Hazel enjoyed hiking and especially her Tai Chi classes. She will be dearly missed by her sister, Harriet, and nieces and nephews, Carol and Mike Spohn, Susan Phelan and Mary and Mike Painter, Dennis and Marcia Engblom; stepchildren Joan and Bob Peterson, Pat Basin, as well as step-grandchildren including Ginny and Gary Piazza, Jan and Joe Miller and Robert Peterson. Grandnieces and nephews Brendan Spohn, Zoe Littman, Amanda and Nathan Painter, Jaxom and Damien Engblom. A Memorial Service will be held at Little House in Menlo Park, October 14th at 1pm, and Inurnment at Presidio National Cemetery October 16 at 1pm.
