Columbus, GA- James "Jimbo" Richmond Thompson, 60, of Columbus, GA died Friday, March 14, 2014 at his residence.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Edgewood Presbyterian Church with Rev. H.K. Johnston officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Thompson was born November 17, 1953 in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, son of the late James Carlton Thompson and Florence Margaret Thompson of Columbus, GA. He was a painter and worshipped regularly at different churches. Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Thompson Whitmire.
Survivors include his mother, Florence Margaret Thompson of Columbus, GA; son, James R. Thompson, II of Tampa, FL; sisters, Paula Thompson of Columbus, GA, Carla Thompson Jones (Randy) of Marietta, GA, and Amanda Colson (Dennis) of Easley, SC; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31907.
