Janet Pasha Obituary

Janet Ryan Pasha

July 21, 1939 - July 16, 2017

Janet Ryan Pasha died peacefully in her home in Belvedere on Sunday, July 16. Janet and her twin sister Judy were born in 1939 to Russell and Marjorie Ryan and were raised in Seattle. She graduated Holy Names Academy and studied nursing at Seattle University, the appropriate profession for one whose lifelong work was caring for others. She came to know the love of her life, George Pasha, at family outings at the beach in Aptos, and was lovingly derailed from the convent to the wedding altar.
Janet and George led a charmed and adventurous life. Janet so loved her family: her children George IV, Maureen, Michael, Mary Jane and John, and her 15 grandchildren. Janet and George shared 52 years of marriage, and together gave of their time, talent and treasure to church and community. Janet carried on her husband's board seat at University of San Francisco, served on a number of other boards including San Domenico School, Marin Charitable, 10,000 degrees and CASA. Janet had unlimited energy for many causes she held near and dear through the years.
Janet's generosity was rooted in mercy, and blessed through her strong commitment to her faith in Christ. That faith and positive outlook on life surprised doctors who underestimated her ability to maintain quality of life far longer than anticipated. During that time she mobilized 20 of her kids and grandchildren to Costa Rica where she hiked through jungles, rode horses and rafted down class 3 rapids. A week ago Saturday she celebrated the wedding of her first grandchild, Cherylann, joining the 'flash mob' on stage for the first dances of the evening. She is survived by her 5 children and fifteen grandchildren, and by Sister Judy Ryan and Father Michael Ryan of Seattle.
In lieu of flowers a gift of remembrance may be made to 10,000 Degrees, www.10000degrees.org; University of San Francisco, www.usfca.edu/giving; Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, https://secure.seattlecca.org/ .
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in San Francisco at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 25, reception to follow at Fromm Hall. Free Parking will be available at USF campus parking lots.

my condolences go to the entire Pasha family on the loss of their loved one, Janet. She was a very dear friend to me for over 50 years, and she was loved by all who were blessed to be able to call her a friend.
Jan was a loving wife and mother, and she was a shining example of the Faith that she professed, and I'm quite certain that God has prepared a special place for her in Heaven.
I will miss her generous heart, her loyal friendship and her kind and gentle manner.
To George, Maureen, Michael, Maryjane and John.I know that the loss of your dear Mom is one of life's most difficult passages, but I hope you will be comforted by the love that will surround and support you through the difficult days ahead. Be assured that many of us are here to help you in any way that we can,
Finally, to you, dear Jan, I say,"Rest in Peace your suffering is over and you are once again with your beloved husband, George Thank you for being an inspiration to me, teaching all of us not only how to live with courage and strength, but also how to die with dignity and complete acceptance of God's plan for you!" I loved you in life, and will hold you close in my heart until we meet again in the not too distant future."

with my deepest sympathy,
Nancy Kelleher
