Jeffrey Mandel Obituary

Jeffrey A. Mandel, MD
August 13, 1943 – July 29, 2021
Dr. Jeffrey Mandel passed away peacefully in Walnut Creek in the presence of his family.
Jeff was born in Brooklyn, New York and was raised in Atlanta, Georgia. He received a bachelor's degree from Emory University in 1964 and his MD from the University of Florida in 1972.
Jeff touched many lives with his warmth, caring, and generosity. He always said "Being a doctor is not what I do, it's who I am."
Jeff was a Family Practice Physician who specialized in Long Term Care, Hospice Care, and patient and family coping. In addition to running his own clinic, Jeff served as Medical Director for many Long Term Care facilities and for Vitas Hospice, where he still worked until he passed. Jeff was a Clinical Instructor at the University of San Francisco School of Medicine and the Stanford College of Medicine and was Director of Medical Education for the Family Practice Residency Program at San Francisco General Hospital.
Jeff read everything he could get his hands on. He loved sports and was a talented athlete. He loved to travel and loved music, especially the Blues.
Jeff will be lovingly remembered by his partner Janice Dolan, his daughter Bekah Guerrero, his son Lev Mandel, his daughter-in-law Courtney Escanio Mandel, and as Pipa by his four beloved grandchildren.
